Elon Musk Questions Vitalik Buterin's Departure from Twitter

March 25, 2024

Lagos, Nigeria - Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has questioned why Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin left Twitter.

Buterin left Twitter in September 2023 after his account was hacked via a SIM swap attack. He subsequently moved to Farcaster, a decentralized social media platform.

In a tweet on Saturday, Musk asked, "Why did he leave?" in response to a post by Autism Capital, which called on Buterin to return to Twitter.

Autism Capital argued that Farcaster is not going to "win the culture war" and that Buterin should engage more on Twitter to promote Ethereum.

Buterin has been critical of Twitter's security measures in the past. He has also been an outspoken advocate for Farcaster, calling it the "future of social media."

Despite his departure from Twitter, Buterin remains active on other social media platforms, including Farcaster and Reddit. He also maintains a blog where he publishes essays and updates on his work.

It is unclear whether Buterin will return to Twitter. However, Musk's question has sparked speculation that he may be considering doing so.
